For the third year in a row, I’m being selfish and telling you all about what I like.
Yeah, this post isn’t about YOU – it’s about ME. And my favourite recipes from 2013. Which are completely different from YOUR favourite recipes from 2013. Go figure.
In order, starting with the very best…
I crave these morning, noon and night. They are unreal. They take a while, but they’re soo worth it. This recipe is a permanent fixture in my kitchen.
Apparently I have a potato problem? Anyway, this is a copycat recipe from the best restaurant in Halifax, in my opinion – the Mic Mac Tavern. You will never throw out potato skins ever again once you make these! And if you’re in Nova Scotia, be sure to visit the Mic Mac Tavern to compare. Almost as good!
It’s no secret – I don’t have a sweet tooth. But I love me some chocolate chip cookies. And these are DELUXE. You can’t just eat one, or two… you have to eat TEN. Do it.
How’s that for contrast? Not healthy, not healthy… healthy! I wrote all about my chip addiction (I am happy to say I am now in remission, with only occasional relapses) and these bad boys helped me kick the bad habit. Homemade is best!
For the first time EVER, a recipe made both the most popular list AND my favourites list. This was the best new dip I came up with in 2013 by a country mile. Looove it.
Another copycat recipe! I made these in an attempt to imitate the vegetarian enchiladas from Feleena’s Mexican restaurant in Ottawa. They’re pretty close, but not totally vegetarian because cream of chicken soup is used for the sauce. Regardless, they’re delicious.
Holy these were good, and according to My Other Half, better than the version at Starbucks. I am making these every fall until the end of time. And two icings? Worth it.
Green goodness! Pasta will be one of the hardest things to kick for me in 2014. I want it every night. But this pasta is quite a bit more nutritious than your average pasta because it’s packed with spinach, basil and avocado. Yum!
Talk about easy – this recipe basically requires zero effort. And it tastes like a masterpiece. There cannot be a faster summer meal – marinate, grill and devour.
This was a hard decision. I almost chose my Risotto with Lemon & Arugula, but couldn’t resist the gorgeous photos of this mouth-watering cake. Like I said, I don’t crave baked goods. I’m a savoury girl. But this was so moist and flavourful, even I couldn’t pass it up.
There were so many amazing recipes in 2013! This list was really hard to nail down – I easily could have shared my 20 favourites, but decided I wouldn’t do that to you.
