Battle of the Pizzas 3.0

By Friday, May 30, 2014

If this is your first Battle of the Pizzas on The Domestic Blonde, welcome!!!Battle of the Pizzas 3.0

Every so often, My Other Half and I have make-your-own pizza night. We have two crusts (this time homemade!) and set about making our own, unique creation, just the way we like it.

In true “us” fashion, it inevitably becomes a competition for who can make the best pizza. When they’re done, we sample each other’s and then stoically declare our own the winner.

Our pizzas are always completely different, but equally delicious (don’t tell My Other Half I admitted that!) and it’s so much fun!

In our first Battle of the Pizzas, My Other Half made Meatlover’s Pizza (with a twist). I made Greek Pizza.

In Battle of the Pizzas 2.0, I made Chipotle BBQ Chicken Pizza, and he made a combination pizza practically identical to the first one he made.

I think his pizza choices are boring. Don’t you agree?

The best part about Battle of the Pizzas 3.0 was that we used homemade crust! On Wednesday I shared the recipe, which you can get by clicking here. It’s great for freezing too!

So who won? We never really know since every time we both claim our pizza is better. But seriously… it’s kind of obvious, right??? 🙂

Basil & Garlic White Pizza

Yield: 1 large pizza

5 tsps minced garlic
4 tbsps olive oil
8 oz fresh mozzarella, sliced
1/2 cup ricotta
1/2 cup basil leaves
1/4 fresh parmesan, shaved
1 batch pizza dough

Preheat oven to 460 degrees. Roll out dough on flowered surface and transfer to a lightly greased baking sheet. Mix garlic and olive oil together and brush over crust (this is the sauce). Dollop ricotta evenly over dough, and arrange mozzarella slices, basil leaves and parmesean. Grind a little pepper over top if you like. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the crust is cooked to your liking.
