Over a cup of tea…

By Monday, January 18, 2016

If we were chatting over a cup of tea this morning, I’d tell you about two new David’s Teas I’m obsessed with – Sweet Almond Green and one I’ve mentioned before, Spiced Apple. So good! I am normally either a black tea or herbal tea person, because I find green teas bitter, but the Sweet Almond Green is lovely. And the Spiced Apple tastes like apple cider! It’s the best.

Over a cup of tea

If we were chatting over a cup of tea this morning, I’d tell you we did another massive purge over the weekend. I went through every drawer, every closet, every nook and cranny, and we delivered a huge truckload to the Salvation Army. Not only that, but I sold a bunch of stuff on Kijiji that we were no longer using/wanted to replace. I can’t express my love for Kijiji enough – I’ve bought and sold so many things on there – everything from furniture to electronics to wedding decor to crutches. Now our house feels so much lighter! Getting rid of stuff is my favourite activity. I’m basically Marie Kondo’s twin. (Also – need her new book, but only to give it away after I read it.)

If we were chatting over a cup of tea, I’d tell you a bit more about what we got rid of this weekend. The biggest thing, for me, was books. I went through all my cookbooks and kept only the ones I truly adore and use regularly. We have the internet, right people? The cookbooks were just collecting dust. I also went through all my novels for the second time in the last year and made another huge pile to give away to my book club girls. I could get rid of more, for sure, though. My bookshelves are feeling so much lighter!

If we were chatting over a cup of tea this morning, I’d profess my love for S’well bottles. I got one (the champagne one) at the Food Bloggers of Canada conference in Montreal this fall, and I wasn’t completely sold. I’m a die-hard Contigo bottle lover (from Costco), and didn’t really get the hype. Last week I got another S’well bottle, though, in matte black, and for the first time really put the “keeps things cold for 24 hours” to the test. Oh my goodness, it’s TRUE! So cold almost a full day later. I haven’t tried hot stuff yet (again, I use the Contigo travel mugs for my tea) but I’m impressed with the cold capabilities.

If we were chatting over a cup of tea this morning, I’d talk nails! Earlier this week I was wearing Essie’s Fiji (a classic baby pink) and now I’ve got Berry Naughty on which I absolutely, positively adore. Perfect winter shade! I almost bought some more nail polish at Shoppers (20 times the points!) this weekend, but successfully held back. So far my resolution to not shop for myself has been working!
