Over a cup of tea…

If we were chatting over a cup of tea this morning, I’d be excited for SPRING! As I’ve told anyone who will listen for the last week, Ian Black declared the end of winter starting today. Ottawa is supposed to see daily highs all above freezing from hereon out… let’s hope he’s right, because I’m ready for the snow to melt!

If we were chatting over a cup of tea this morning, I’d answer the question everyone has lately – whether or not I will be taking time off the blog due to BH arriving in April. The answer is definitely! I’ll probably stop food blogging altogether (temporarily), and will post occasional Tea Time updates when I can. No promises on frequency, but I’m aiming to provide a monthly baby update similar to my monthly pregnancy posts.  As for the recipes, not sure when they will stop, but I already feel myself slowing down. We’ll see!

If we were chatting over a cup of tea, I’d have questions about cacao nibs. I bought some at Bulk Barn months ago, and I have no idea why – I think I was just curious. Anyway, I tried to eat some (thinking they’d taste like chocolate) and spat them out immediately. Yuck! What are they possibly used for?! I hear about them all the time, but can’t imagine eating them in something. Tell me your secrets!

If we were chatting over a cup of tea, I’d tell you about my greatest and latest discovery – freezing cookie dough! I often crave chocolate chip cookies (which has nothing to do with the pregnancy – I’ve always craved them) randomly, and having frozen cookie dough on hand is THE BEST. Why haven’t I done this before?! Now, whenever I made cookies, I double the batch and freeze half the dough. I actually portion out all the cookies first, freeze them on a baking sheet, and then transfer them to a huge Zipoc bag. They take five minutes to thaw, and then you can bake them right away, in any number you want. I started doing this while researching freezer meals (in preparation for the newborn days) and am totally addicted.

If we were chatting over a cup of tea, I’d tell you despite my longing for spring, we are LOVING winter walks lately. Since I gave up my gym membership, to get my exercise in, we bundle up and stroll around everywhere. I love it. If you dress for it, no weather is too cold, really. I always feel such a high after going for a nice long walk in fresh air!

And lastly, if we were chatting over a cup of tea, I’d tell you I loved wearing CND Vinylux’s Chiffon Twirl last week, and now have Essie’s The Girls Are Out on, which I always get compliments on. I can’t wait for Easter pastel colours!
